#33. The Most Fishful Day

GTS Update!

Seismitoad for Tepig was a success!

Tepig

Tepig can deftly dodge its foe's attacks while shooting fireballs from its nose. When it catches a cold, the fire becomes pitch-black smoke instead. It roasts berries before it eats them. It loves to eat roasted berries, but sometimes it gets too excited and burns them to a crisp.
Choro Notes: Tepig is the Fire-type starter for the Gen 5. They're . . . average . . . I guess! I used one in Black2 and frankly I was really underwhelmed by it. Maybe I was spoiled by the, you know, previous two fire-type starters that evolve into Fighting-types.
Zorak Notes: Lil' pig dude. He's pretty cute! That's . . . that's about it!
HulkaMatt Notes: AWWWWWWWWWWW MY DOG! A#1 Wrestlepig Prospect right here. Will Hansel teach him everything he knows????

. . . Still no nickname. Siiiiigh. This Tepig has nothing really special! Someone bred it just for trading I guess!

Also it's from Ontario!

. . .

. . .

. . .

- - -

Alright, good night stay at home. Automatom is off saving a village. Let's get on this!

Actually, you know. There was this large body of water here. I should maybe, you know. Go look for some Pokémon on it. Opelucid can wait!

You are pretty good at that breaststroke, Hansel.

Oh no!

Oh.

Your bat bonked my buddy, they were connected briefly, yes.

. . . oh, well. Do you wanna do something more interesting?

Choro Notes: Hey I'm leveling up Tynamo now! Tynamo are a pain to evolve because they don't learn any moves other than the ones they start with. (Tackle, Thunder Wave, Spark, Charge Beam) They can't even learn things via TM. Even the moves that it starts with. Either way, he does manage to get some nice bullshit wins against several of the trainers on this route.

There's a whole route out here, how weird.

black."
Oh. . . well I'm going anyway!

Yep, yep, big ol' flat screen TV.

Music: HeartGold/SoulSilver - Johto Route 47

Choro Notes: After You is . . . a strange move. It causes the target to move next. It is an instance of Hansel being lovable and polite. Really it's only useful in double/triple battles. Truly, a strange move.

Choro Notes: Toxic badly poisons the target, each turn the damage dealt increases by 1/16th of the target's max HP. The bizarre thing? Every monster than can learn TMs can learn Toxic. All of them.

Oh! I don't know that one! Show me its good points!

Oh . . . it's a fish. I'm fighting a fish with a fish. They're so slimy and gross, eew.

Choro Notes: I'm really not sure how Lampere managed to pull off a win there. Dude is really weak.

Hansel could swim laps around you!

Choro Notes: Night Slash has 10 base power less than Crunch, and can't lower defense, but it has a high critical hit rate. So we'll go with that, sure.

Choro Notes: The DeepSeaTooth does two things: It doubles Clamperl's special attack, as well as evolves Clamperl into Huntail if traded while holding it. But . . . Clamperl are from the Hoenn region . . .

Navigating these currents is kinda tough.

Nothin' that can't be handled though, no.

It's kinda pretty out here!

Look down on me, will you?!

Whoa . . . what is THAT thing?

Knocked out, that's what!

. . . there are steps! You just walked up here!

At least there's civilization out here!

Really nice to let everyone get fixed up and rested!

. . . you change the sheets, right?

Whassup?

Wait, you just picked up an egg you found? That's kind of mean! D:>

Well, I'm just a redneck, not a licensed and trained Pokémon Ranger. But I got a hug monster and an alien! We're more than qualified to be parents to the mystery child.

Choro Notes: This shit is going to take forever.

I already got a mystery egg, so this is gonna have to be pretty sweet.

Yeah, they love crouching behind rocks.

Yeah, ok.

Choro Notes: This guy will pay top dollar for Rare Bones. But . . . Haley doesn't have any . . .

Oh! I know what to do here!

That is entirely too satisfying feel. Feels good putting stuff in holes. Feels damn good.

. . .

Oh there's nothing of value over here. Still, feels good.

Me too!

Ok!

You're just saying that because of her creepy eyes. :)

Nnnnnngh, yeah. I am the queen of this shit.

Nah, I live down the street.

Hmm, this matchup seems . . .

Nevermind!

Choro Notes: The Dragon Scale evolves Seadra if you trade it while holding it! But . . . Seadra are from the Kanto, Johto and Hoenn regions . . .

So many treasures and wondrous sights out here! . . . I really don't want to go fight that dragon.

Oh! This really was hidden!
Choro Notes: Waterfall is a really nice physical Water-type move that is used to scale waterfalls. Go figure!

You're not a heartbreaker, are you?

WHAT IS THAT?

Oh jeez! You're not a heartbreaker you're a facebreaker!

Mindbreaker. >:D

Hell yeah we are kinda kickin' ass here.

Hey, what's that?

Ick.

Alomomola

Floating in the open sea is how they live. When they find a wounded Pokémon, they embrace it and bring it to shore. The special membrane enveloping Alomomola has the ability to heal wounds.
Choro Notes: Alomomola have a ton of HP and moderate defense. Oddly, they have almost twice as much base attack stat than they have sp.attack stat. How strange.
Zorak Notes: It's a motherly Mola Mola (Ocean Sunfish). Sunfish are pretty neat; they're actually the heaviest bony fish. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__ZzrLFQlyo
HulkaMatt Notes: A lo mo o mola mola mooola. A lo mo o mola mola mooola. It's a fish. A big pink fish.

Well whatever. We can head east from here! This isn't the same beach we landed on, though.

Something feels off here. Like science has been done. Black science.

Choro Notes: The Dubious Disc evolves Porygon2! But . . . Porygon2 are found in the Kanto region . . .

quote:

My lord N apparently rejected my research . . .
But my research is necessary for Team Plasma to reach its goal . . .
The strongest Pokémon

Huh? Strongest Pokémon? Stronger than Zekrom?

It's the scientist! Get him!

Oh you don't seem mean? Get him!

Choro Notes: Weak Armor is Garbodor's ability. When he gets hit by a physical attack parts of him fall off, decreasing his defense. But he's lighter without that radiator in his gut so he gets faster!

Go you gross fish bastard!

Screw it!

Hansel! Everytime you use that move you seem to fly through someone. :I

This is also science."
Well, alright. But I'm keeping my eye on you.

Oh man.

Music: Evolution

Oh. It's fishier. How wonderful.

Eelektrik

These Pokémon have a big appetite. When they spot their prey, they attack it and paralyze it with electricity. Eelektrik coil around foes and shock them with electricity-generating organs that seem simply to be circular patterns. Then it chomps.
Choro Notes: Eelektrik learns a couple moves if you don't evolve it right away. Here's the thing: none of them are really that good excet for Coil. It learns Thunderbolt at L.44 but, you can just TM that on.
Zorak Notes: He's . . . an eelman. S'about it. Sort of lamprey-esh yeah. Lampreys are horrifying jawless fish that suck the life out of other fish like seaborne Draculas. Interestingly, we're not quite sure just how Lampreys are related to jawed-fish and other vertebrates.
HulkaMatt Notes: Look at that dude. He just LOOKS like a Bucky. How are you givin' me shit for naming mine Bucky? This guy rocks, took him all the way to the top. Nothing bad to say about 'em.

Oh even better, now it can BITE.

. . .

. . .

. . .

. . .

. . .

Eelektross

Eelektross crawl out of the ocean using their arms. They will attack prey on shore and immediately drag it into the ocean. It latches on to prey with its sucker mouth, sinking its fangs and shocking the prey with powerful electricity.
Choro Notes: TERROR LAMPREY! I love his little feeters! For extra badassery, check out his French name~
Zorak Notes: Pretty beastly. He's one of the stone evolutions that don't learn much of anything. He's actually the first ThunderStone evolution since Jolteon in gen 1! True facts.
HulkaMatt Notes: DIDN'T YOU HEAR ME BEFORE??? NOTHIN. BAD. 2 SAY!!!

Choro Notes: Thunderbolt is basically your go-to Electric-type attack. It's decently powered, can paralyze and has 100% accuracy.

I guess you can signal the lightning down from the sky with your finger things.

. . . You don't have to flash them at me like that! I don't even know what that means

Well, I can go back but I saw that little cove from the bridge back there! I'm gonna figure out the mystery of the cove!

Aha, sneaky!

Now to look for Smugglers' loot.

Huh. Rocks. But they are scurrying. . . Oh he—

-llo.

Hey little dude, I'm jackin' your ride.

Yeah!

Ah!

Oh screw this.

Crustle

It possesses legs of enormous strength, enabling it to carry heavy slabs for many days, even when crossing arid land. Competing for territory, Crustle fight viciously. The one whose boulder is broken is the loser of the battle. When its boulder is broken, it feels unsure and begins to weaken.
Choro Notes: Crustle are really cool looking and this one actually almost took out my whole team while I was trying to catch it! Remember! Not a water-type!
Zorak Notes: A hermit crab wearing a big ol' slab of stratum. Since he's a big hermit crab you'd think he'd be a coconut crab, but coconut crabs don't wear shells!
HulkaMatt Notes: HOOOOOOLY GOOOODDDDDD! IT'S A ROCK CRAB! LOVE IT. NOBODY HATE. IT'S AWESOME.

Choro Notes: Telekinesis is another strange utility move: it effectively gives the target levitate, but also makes all not-Guillotine-and-friends moves hit regardless of accuracy. The user is lifting them into the air, you see.

- - -

-A while later-

Oh jeez! Fire! Fire everywhere!

A caterpillar? Great. GREAT.

Larvesta

Larvesta was believed to have been born from the sun. The base of volcanoes is where they make their homes. They shoot fire from their five horns to repel attacking enemies. It spews fire from its horns and encases itself in a cocoon of fire when it evolves.
Choro Notes: Larvesta reminds me of Marley. It just does.
Zorak Notes: I fucking love Larvesta and its evolution, they're probably two of my favorite Pokemon. Larvesta takes forever to hatch and evolve, but it's ultimately very worth it. Additionally, don't let Larvesta's decent attack stat deceive you: you will want to focus on special attack stuff with him in the future . . .
HulkaMatt Notes: Deserves a medal for being cool as heck! One of my fav designs this gen.

Maybe we'll go to Opelucid tomorrow. Maybe.
